Maybe I am just a little burned on the issue post-Game of Thrones so I am not as willing to give writers the credit, and a lot of people have trouble conceiving of a man being raped by a woman, so maybe I just projected that doubt onto the screen.

I think the old Ice Nation queen mentioned that she had been hiding a black blood kid, with i think the implication being that unlike the rest of the kids this potential heir was not being exposed to Lexa. So yeah i imagine it will come down to the one Lexa favored and the Ice Nation kid.
I think it failed in the flashback because ALIE locked them out of the system, but I doubt ALIE still has access (or perhaps there is a way to activate it manually).
Yeah ALIE 2 has to be key to stopping ALIE 1. thought they lingered on the black blood in the flashback and in the mentions of the future potential commanders so maybe the black blood is the key. That scene made me mad too. He framed her actions as selfish and I like how that made me think about both characters there.
I actually really like how they are doing ALIE and her followers interaction. Like you say the information doled out is selective but targeted well.
