It was still a stylish, peppy, light, and affordable car that could be either a fun little commuter or a decent performer among its contemporaries, depending on the trim you got. I wouldn’t consider it the BEST Celica, but definitely not the worst.

I like ‘em. I’ve thought about trading my MR-S for a 7th gen GT-S. Sure, I give up RWD and going topless, but I get a 2ZZ-GE, 6-speed, possibly an LSD, somthing that resembles a back seat, usable storage, and it’s only about 500 lbs heavier (“only”).
