There are 3 things I don’t cheap out on.
There are 3 things I don’t cheap out on.
Probably a whole lot cheaper to move into a building and renovate than it is to build one from scratch I’m betting.
Yeah right now 350 miles seems like the average range for a lot of BEV then you’d probably have to charge that overnight. I don’t think we’re going to get rid of ICE for at least 50 years but I bet for on road vehicles we’re going to be over 50% sometime in the next 15 to 20 years. Off road stuff is interesting here…
I knew that eventually there would be a solution to that. I look at BEVs like cordless drills were 25 years ago. In the early 90's those cordless drills were garbage, now I don’t know how anybody lives without one. Cars will get there too it’s just a matter of time.
I don’t see a battery powered long haul truck happening for quite a while but for box trucks/package delivery and things like that I think that’s going to happen pretty quick. The biggest technical hurdle I see, at least where I live for any battery powered vehicle though is how do they overcome the amount of power…
I’m driving a Tacoma now too. My commute to work is like 12 miles round trip so a plug-in hybrid would work really well for my weekday needs. I’m just not ready to pull the trigger on a full on battery electric truck yet.
That’s cool and all but I really want to know what the powertrain options are going to be. I’m assuming we’re getting a twin turbo version of the 3.5L. I’m also assuming that a hybrid will be an option. What I’d really like to see is a plug-in hybrid version. Seems to me like if you’re going to build a hybrid at this…
Those are two entirely different things. Everybody has their cash out point, not everybody can get to that point.
There’s a point where every single one of us will say fuck it I’ve got plenty of money. I hope I get there before I turn 60. Looks like this guy hit that point, good for him.
I had to make a dispute with Hertz over a stolen rental a couple years ago. I had rented a car from them for work since they are who we have to rent from for work. A few weeks later I got a call from them asking if I returned the car because they couldn’t find it. We have a pick-up/drop off point at our office with…
I was interested but it doesn’t look like you can get a hybrid in AWD just a FWD config so I’m out on this one.
During the week under non-pandemic conditions I drive about 10 miles a day so I don’t really care too much. I’m more concerned with how much I’m spending on a given week. Right now I fill up about every 10 days or so and that’s costing me about $4 a day when you average in my weekend running around. I’m good with…
No explosions? That’s boring.
Watching Mazepin attempt to drive an F1 car is what I imagine I would look like trying to drive an F1 car. He’s the everyman out there. He sucks like the rest of us would out there.
There’s also the problem of getting the containers off the ships right now. My wife works in supply chain and got an email before the Suez canal was blocked from her higher-ups that said to figure on adding at least a month to any lead time for stuff that’s going by sea. The port of Long Beach is a parking lot right…
I really think that passenger vehicles moving away from fossil fuels will be relatively easy compared to class 8 trucks and off highway vehicles, passenger planes and ships. A battery pack for your Rav-4 with a 300 mile range is relatively easy compared to a row crop tractor that needs to run for 12 hours straight or…
I’m still waiting on my plug in hybrid Tacoma
I used to work at a pump company with a guy who made all the drawings for seal installations on the pumps. Most of these seals had a set of ports for running liquid into them to keep the sealing surfaces cooled off from the friction between the faces and the shaft. These holes were labeled A and B. Old Norm used to…
I’m getting my second Pfizer on Monday. The first one felt like I’d had a tetanus shot for a couple days but that was it.
How is a shit load of dynamite not plan A here?
