Oh yeah, and he fired Billy Donnelly for being too negative.

Knowles does strike me as the type of guy who believes anything any celebrity tells him, no matter how ridiculous, because a celebrity said it.

He was possibly the single worst movie reviewer I’ve ever read. At least with Armond White, there would be something interesting-weird, not Knowles’s creepy-weird. And you could see some pretty good movies by doing the exact opposite of whatever Armond White told you to do. All Knowles would tell you in his review was

I saw Del Toro do a one hour Q & A at Fantasia Fest in Montreal just over a year ago, and I must say, he came off as an extremely smart and extremely cool human who is deeply passionate about film. Obviously I don’t know him, and can’t speak to his actual personality, but I quite enjoyed listening to him talk shop for

Well, I just read that review and. . . Christ, I could’ve done without that.

I would also recommend his review of the original Heroes TV show, if you also want to die via cringe.

Wasn’t it Harry Knowles, or someone at his site, that speculated about how Claire’s (from “Heroes”) regenerative power worked, and whether it meant that every time she had sex, her hymen would regenerate?

Yeah, he was also a big, big fan of Godzilla ‘98.

Not falling apart faster than AV Club though!

Was that the, ahem, “chocolate covered pussy juice” review?

Have you read his original Phantom Menace review, specifically his thoughts in regards to Jar Jar?

Maybe he’s be both things.

Can’t say I am sad about this development, we have been talking for the last two days about what a fucking garbage person he was, the question is was this a straw that broke the camels back, standing with the victim, or the sadly likely and common story of they knew things and feel comfortable to act now that it is

You know, her byline’s right at the top of the page; if you don’t like her articles, nobody’s forcing you to read them.

Only because no one else is answering and not because I’m an expert.

His site caught on with a kind of fervent fan boy attitude to movies at a time when the internet was evolving. It got hot and it stayed kind of hot, I guess. He was emblematic of the type of bedroom blogger superfan that people liked to think the

Seems to me like your biases against Katie overrode your reading comprehension. Katie said she was fine with the film being shown, but recognized that other women apparently weren’t in the right headspace to enjoy it given the climate. I fail to see what’s incoherent or misandrist about that.

Yep, which is why I’m skeptical that the sequel will be any good, because what are the chances that all that chemistry, and the resulting strong connection between the audience and the characters, will transfer to an entirely new cast of adult actors playing messed-up forty-year-olds?

Personally I’m kind of glad they did it this way, because the portion with the kids was my favorite part of the book and I was never interested particularly in the adults. This way, we got a solid stand-alone movie that was tight as a drum, and now we’ll get another similar movie that fills in the rest of the story.

His review of BLADE 2 remains the most disgusting thing I’ve ever read.

I went to that site for the first time in over a decade the other day. Good lord, that layout has not changed since GWB was president. But, I will say this: They do still use Disqus.
