Various enemies are replaced on the second playthrough of the game, in this case the Goombas in 1-2 become Buzzy Beetles. The glitch probably works on the first playthrough as well, but you wouldn't be able to get infinite lives from it.

I'm not worried. A majority of the demographic on Wii U can read and spell. Other consoles though...
