With physical access, hacking your password (no matter what it is) takes <5minutes on Windows and <3 on Mac. Remotely it's not much longer if your permissions are messed up.

I know the price of the raspberry pi is hard to beat, but if you are looking for performance I may suggest giving the CuBox or PandaBoard a shot. Yes, they are more expensive (over $100 more) - but they are dual cores with better specs and future expandability (headers for lcd's and such).

Double check on TorrentFreak's link above, HideMyAss is one of the worst as far as logs (And it's based in the UK I think).
The main reason to do this is to get around restricted networks (being at college or whatever).
I was in a campus owned apartment and just bought a really good antenna... I was easily able to get on local networks for open use.
