I guess this case depends on who you are with (which is true of any small talk in my opinion).

This is why I am a selective early adopter.
I use my tether all the time, but even if I didn't - it's great to have the option. That's the first thing I enable after rooting/jailbreaking.

Fun hack! I don't see tons of application for myself (although the EInk for reading may be nice); however, it could work well with keeping just a documents folder or music player off your screen if you like to keep up with those.

To expand on that (from the previous commentor) You need to set it up as IMAP using m.google.com for it to work correctly. It'll get your contacts, emails (obviously), and calendars. Maybe notes too, wherever they keep those on google...
