This is so true. Lee/Kirby would've resolved this in 2-3 issues.

Amen. Exactly.

Look, if it sucked, I'd be the first to say "cheap theatrics," but…

TOTALLY AGREE…that said, Spencer is using it in a manner to comment on the state of the country…rather than cheap thrills.

He also writes the Capatin America: Sam Wilson book, wherein the exact opposite viewpoints are explored, and where the other half of this story is being told.

Guess what, the whole Steve Rogers as HYDRA agent storyline is the best thing Marvel has produced in years. It's consistent, gripping, and when matched with what's going on In CAPTAIN AMERICA: SAM WILSON, tremendous commentary on where the USA is right now.

Pot. Kettle.

Oh I AM SO FUCKING SORRY that I actually respect the artists involved in creating these MOVIES more than their own studio does.

No worries, it's cool. I'd be 100% fine with a trailer that was clearly that. I just felt it was intruding on the film.

Wasn't a preview. It was edited to make you think it was part of the movie.

Oh, I'm sorry…I guess, as a artist, myself, I think that when the production team does such an excellent job setting a tone and feel for their film, it doesn't need to be upended because FOX wants to sell a movie with a TOTALLY incompatible style.

I think the film made it plenty clear…Xavier killed/injured/crippled the entire school.

As I said elsewhere…

The Deadpool short should never have been attached to this film in such a way. It doesn't fit the tone, and it actually made me angry after the film was over.

Totally. I getcha

I have no idea where you are from, but that film could have been transplanted into Nebraska sandhills ranching country with only minor changes.

Exactly…You passed over Fincher for this?

But, quite honestly, I'm talking about this in the face of the stated reasons to nominate more films. To somehow appeal to the public. The public took that Deadpool GG nomination as validation, and I do think that the "nerd culture," no matter how dominant they become as a commercial force, is ACHING for validation.

Amen. HELL OR HIGH WATER is a TRULY important film if you really want to understand what the hell is going on in the flyover parts of our country, and it's exceptional on about every level. Having my family come from the rural midwest, I was SHOCKED that the director was Irish. It "feels" true on every level.

The King's Speech was like the absolute nadir of the whole thing (well, except for Crash). It was almost literally the perfect "made by committee" Best Picture. I think it was *good,* effective, well made historical drama, but NOTHING, not one element of it was *exceptional.*
