We’re not Amsterdam! We’re not Manhattan! It’s too hot/cold/rainy/hilly!
It’s sort of absurd how fundamentally broken our transportation system is, and how accepting people are of it.

If you want “way to specific”, I also would like a “no one is adopting that god damn shelter dog because everyone whinging about how cute and tragic it is already has 2 fucking dogs” button
that would work too.
need a “Snopes” button for all right-wing memes
I still wonder if it would be this bad if the original hockey-friendly arena design had been used. I’ve never understood why arena builders sacrifice so much capacity and flexibility for the sake of moving basketball seats slightly closer.
Unfortunately, I don’t know where in Queens they’re going to have better luck at…
So this may be a dumb question that’s already been answered, but is this maybe a standard battery module they’ve been using for years, but the batteries inside have shrunk over time for the same power needs?
Clearly she’s a Rich Peverley fan.
Shame my need right now is for a dual-sim phone, because this is damn sexy.
I think at 2m it’s left open, and relies on hydrophobic coating and internal seals. 5m moves an additional cover in place so that the ports are no longer accessible..
apparently it cover the headphone/microusb ports to make it more waterproof.
American BRT is almost universally a bait and switch, designed to reduce transit spending and siphon a portion of what’s left into general roadway improvements. Yes, you could probably build 5 quality busways for the price of 4 streetcar lines, but when you agree to BRT you end up with half the funding and a phenomena…
Mega bloks sets have been improving dramatically in recent years. They’ve figured out how to make very detailed, well articulated action figures at minifig scale. They’ve also gone after brands Lego won’t like Call of Duty, Halo, and Assassin’s Creed, filling a market gap.
That’s actually old, from the 1st time Megabloks had the Star Trek rights.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day
Comparing 3rd world construction costs to New York city is comparing the utmost extremes of the infrastructure world. Active subway projects in Western Europe and Scandinavia are substantially cheaper than New York, even most American cities build transit for half as much.
The other problem is that stopping in every building is actually very inefficient. Closely spaced stations slow down trains, even the densest station spacing is usually every 400 metres or so.
It would be cool, yes, but also very expensive to retrofit. Building pass-throughs are usually only built when the monorail is part of a major redvelopment
Look. I know it sucks that monorails aren’t taken seriously as transportation. Yes, Disneyworld/land gives people the impression that they’re a ride, when it fact their ridership at those parks is well above most light rail lines and even some metros. Yes, people will continue to post the Simpsons clip and dismiss it…
people who refuse to cruise control are usually the same people who stay in the left lane for miles, or buy a prius and wonder why they don’t get good mileage.
hopefully the movie is good enough to justify buying the set
