Firstly you'd need a security screwdriver bit. I think the SNES has tri-wing or star screws. Aside from that disassembly is relatively easy.

Erasers are great for cleaning flat contacts. I remember using one regularly on a Scalextric set to clean the electrical contacts under the cars, even the track itself.

Acetone can be very bad with a lot of plastics and paint so I wouldn't recommend it for this without being very careful. Alcohol all the way!

@Professor Bacon: I think Jennacide was right, that's the better side of capitalism. ;)

@staySICK: It's an odd thing, wanting your hardware to fail so you have an excuse to upgrade. I do it too. I'm currently waiting for my monitor to die so I can replace it with a 23" Dell Ultrasharp.

@Pizookie: I'm an idiot. Didn't realise the backup utility would handle copy-protected saves. I'll have to clear my music, photos and movies then backup.

As a non-subscriber I wouldn't feel quite so cheated by this if I was actually allowed to back up all my saves to an external drive. Knowing Sony though, this will only be supported by a few games and won't become mandatory for at least a year.

@CalebAcheron: Wouldn't have helped since there's some save games that are copy protected. .<

@legendnthemaking: Oh, THAT's what it reminded me of! It was starting to bug me.

@Canon7D-Fanboy: I totally agree that they are still dicks. In this case, however, it's good that they're defending the IP of these games. GOG.com recently released the Police Quest series and would be within their rights to sue Activision if they didn't take action.

If you're only having the one graphics card in there, I think the case is way beyond your needs. As so many others have said, you should be expecting the latest Sandy Bridge motherboard and processors for that price.

@p4w4rr10r: Dude, no one is ever going to need more than 640k of RAM.

@animejunkie103: Yeah it was regarding tethering. I should have made that more clear. Appears some providers are disabling it.

@topalov: OtherOS, yes, and some serious hardware modification requiring a lot of technical expertise, trial and error and luck. It was a massive overreaction to what was a very limited and hard to recreate breach.

@animejunkie103: I thought this was a feature of Android 2.2 and higher rather than only available on certain phones? Are some manufacturers/providers disabling it?

@topalov: Beacause it would have been a worse PR disaster than it is.

@Dennen: Fact: Sony SAID they removed the feature due to security concerns.

@topalov: Yep, the hacking was only an excuse for Sony to stop supporting a feature they had very little interest in anyway.

@Cintiq: I know, right? Papyrus is much better.
