This game is just too fucking crazy not to be great. Having played a bit ahead of this review, I can confirm that having your character executed mid-game isn’t even Wolfenstein 2's most audacious narrative moment. 2017 has turned out to be a great year for games that seem to have run with every idea they had.

The “previously on Wolfenstein” bit at the beginning is thorough enough that you won’t be confused about what’s going on, even though it is a very direct sequel that picks up right where the first one left off. But I concur with Hughes: if you have the option, go ahead and play the first one. It’s a ton of fun, and

The game that most epitomizes this phenomenon, I think, is Earthbound. The whole game is a Japanese person’s notion of stereotypical Americana, and the result (for American players, at least) is this bizarre funhouse mirror version of America, where everything is super weird yet deeply familiar.

I’ve been playing this with kind of a combination of the forward-moving style described here and the more stream-of-consciousness style that Breath of the Wild encouraged. I generally move toward my next big objective and don’t spend any time scouring for secrets, but I do digress to explore a little if I see

For those who haven’t played it, Inside really is a stunning achievement in video game storytelling. Its wordless, impressionistic “story” (such as it is) is one that really couldn’t be told with the same effectiveness in any other medium. And yes, it has perhaps the most bonkers ending in all of gaming.

I have this game sitting on my PC for when I get home from work today. And you better believe there’s going to be violence on many sides.

Dude, when I was a kid and had an N64 on pre-order, I had a dream the night before it came out that Super Mario 64 totally sucked.

My friend’s dad gave us all the codes for Doom, and then wouldn’t tell us how he knew them! In retrospect, probably the internet.

On the very first Super Mario Bros., there’s a place in the final level where you have to hit an invisible block to make a platform and jump up to an otherwise out-of-reach pipe; if you don’t know it’s there, you’re likely to just run under it without realizing that you’ve bypassed the correct path through the

One of the things that worked so well in The New Order, in my opinion, this really impossible tonal balance it pulled off, where it had all these extreme elements and pushed the boundaries of good taste, but was also a surprisingly substantial story with great characters, coherent themes, and moments of genuine

A bold declaration from the poor man’s Sean Hannity.

I can’t wait to hear your take on Earthbound as you continue to advance into the game. There’s so much I want to say—about the turns the plot takes, about some of the emotional beats that play out—that I won’t get into because I don’t want to spoil it for you. In many ways, it was the most ambitious game to release on

Is this your first time playing Earthbound? If so, you are in for a massive treat. There is really nothing else like it.

Whatever, it was probably Darrell Issa.

I’d probably pull a Gene Wilder and insist that it’s pronounced “Ween-stine.”

2 Great 2 War

Swiss Army Man is much, much better than it has any right to be.

That’s...bad?

On a related note, I recently had a comment removed from facebook for being racist...

Damn, I’ve been pushing Cheetoh Mussolini, but that’s pretty good. Couldn’t get Playgolf Shitler to take off.
