I have to be honest, I’m constantly kind of baffled about how thinskinned Deadspin seems to be about any kind of critical writing about the USWNT, no matter how minor. I mean read this newsitem on the BBC, where it was a minor thing and Neville essentially said, as he did here, that he just thought it was bad manners.

I’m sorry, arrogant Americans? In what universe? Americans are the classiest, most dignified, and humble people on the planet!

If my co workers were in a salary litigation I wouldn’t comment either. Also, did you consider your status as a blogger for Deadspin probably doesn’t warrant a response?

It makes no sense to get upset over imagery in a work of fiction until you know in what context the imagery is being used. Also, a depiction of a fictionalized world is likely to contain portrayals of real bigotry, especially one set in this universe, so it’s not appropriate to assume that just because bigotry is

“I understand there’s a goal differential race in this tournament. I understand they’re nervous about drawing Sweden later in the tournament, but this was disgraceful from the United States. I would have hoped they would have won with humility and grace, but celebrating goals eight, nine, ten the way they were doing

You do realize that is not what the panel was criticizing. Their comments were about the celebrations, not the score.

It wasn’t the dunking, it was the celebrating later goals like they were major goals.

The big difference is that there’s actual enforced laws for autos. Yeah, they do their fair share of bad, too! No one’s a saint. But should you try parking your car on an access ramp for the sidewalk for any length of time, it probably won’t end well.

I don’t follow closely enough to know whether Ellis is good or not, but what is that gif supposed to demonstrate about her? How should a coach look between 76:21 and 76:22 of a 5-0 destruction of T&T, that she is not?

I think that is awesome, actually.

This is like when I went to my first soccer game last year & I was confused that fans don’t get to keep the soccer balls that go out of play.

Fuckin’ herbs.

This is why all the candidates should go on FOX, if for no other reason than to force the FOX talent to defend the network’s journalistic decisions.

I remember George Bush Sr. sticking it to Dan Rather in 1988 (skip to the 6:20 mark,) orchestrated by future FOX boss Roger Ailes.

Disagree. It sounds like some of the exchanges happened the day after the alleged assault including possibly asking for souvenirs. If this is the case that is a huge hole in her accusations.

As always in these discussions I have a simple question: “How, exactly, do you want the IAAF to regulate who can enter the women’s categories in sports?”. Same for any athletic event that differentiates between women and men. If there were no regulations, then a man could declare himself to be a woman, race as a

Women’s sports are a protected subcategory. Testosterone doesn’t have to be the line, but there has to be one. XX vs. XY is a possible alternative, but Caster would fall on the wrong side of that one as well since although her personal information hasn’t been disclosed these rules specifically only apply in those

Can someone explain to me the difference between loot boxes and Pokémon cards? You can play with a starter pack, but if you want to be good (or more skins, etc) you need to buy blind packs. I’m not saying it’s great, but how is this now a gambling issue?

It’s obviously not sufficient on its own, but radicalizing younger generations towards leftist politics—and at the very least turning them away from the neo-fascist reactionary bullshit you often see among Gamers™ on Twitch—is an unambiguous good.

Sooooooooooo....a big chunk of voting block young men?

Can’t tell you how many text messages I exchanged with friends seriously worrying about the health of a person I have never met and will likely never meet.
