48 game MLS season for a balanced schedule would be way to many weeks but go off, would be in the mid 50's next year with 2 more teams added.

they would have got the bye which makes it so they dont have to play the single elimination game, a benefit of winning your conference and as the team with the most points, would have hosted the cup final which would have been the only single elimination game they would have had to play

if you think the new playoff format cheapens the the regular season by letter more teams in than previous (by 1 a conference), you are wrong. It actually makes the regular season more valuable and gives value to winning your conference (top of the table should benefit) as it gives you the bye and avoidance of a 1 off…
