True about Toyota using non-solid state batteries for years. So he was an early adopter of EVs and when the Prius came out, he got one. Back when they looked like Nissan Sentras and were tiny.

None of those cars are exactly what anyone would call older cars.

We owned a Chevy Volt and its battery conked out at the 10 year, 155,000 mark.

The problem is that battery tech is not there yet. On average an EV owner is lucky to get maybe 10-12 years before the battery degrades enough to where it needs replacement.
