Look at a film like Star Wars VII. More than half of it's money came from foreign box office.

Because in today's market, films make most of their money outside of the US. The studios want a product that will sell everywhere.
SOOC $161,197,785 Domestic 39 million Foreign. So roughly 20% of it's money came from Foreign dollars.
Creed 108 million domestic, 41 million Foreign. That seems pretty clear. It made $361,000 in Japan, Nothing in China. It did equally poorly in Eastern Europe.
It's not that difficult to find out what the US and International Gross of a film is. Let us know.
All it will take is time. I don't know how much.

Ultimately, making films is a global business. Sadly, black actors don't sell well in many lucrative markets.
