Hollywood took bold stance and decided to answer a question nobody asked

I really loved the workplace sitcom Muppets. A lot of people seemed really angry that Kermit and Piggy weren’t together though...

YES THIS!! This is what would have absolutely saved this episode and would have been a perfect final note for ENT and this era of TV Star Trek. This was the moment where they could have been a bit self-indulgent and sappy and yet... oh well.

Oh I get what they were trying to do and why they were doing it with Star Trek shows reaching the end of an era and all that. But I think I would have liked the finale a lot more if we actually would’ve heard Archer’s speech. Like, it all builds up to that moment and then “End program!” So it all boils down to Riker

I didn’t mind it so much in Picard—that show felt sufficiently “other Trek” that I don’t mind it’s character focused exploration of other things. And as pleasing fan service. If anything, the thing that isn’t of our cultural moment was how silly it looked to me that let one family imagine synthetic life and everyone

Oh man, Orville would have really hit the spot if we had some new episodes.

Yeah, but that’s exactly my point: We don’t know cause the show’s run was cut short compared to the other three from that era. Not saying that it would suddenly be everyone’s favourite but I definitely see a lot of potential there, even with Archer.

It depends on what your problems with Disco s1 were.

So long as it’s not a sympathetic tale of a member of the evil, Nazi-esque Empire or First Order either, I agree.

I hate to sound insensitive because I was a fan of her acting, Election is one of my favorite movies and she was one of my favorite parts of it. But her obituary mentions she was a “naturopathic practitioner” which it needs to be said is not recognized as a legitimate medical profession, it relies on pseudoscience,

“The provocation is in telling the audience that the way that they’re doing things is wrong because there’s a better way.

I just watched ENT for the first time and I completely agree with you. The Xindi storyline obviously dragged on too long but it was very bold storytelling

agreed completely. the found family stuff with adira and stamets is a great example. it was utterly fucking bizarre when he called them “my child” last week. I’m sorry, you’ve got to show, not tell, and they’ve shown us pretty much nothing to establish the familial bond between those characters (much less the rest of

totally agree! this is star trek getting current, not getting ahead. and it is still meaningful and not toothless. although! having a trans man getting a meaningful arc about being visible will actually be trek getting back to pushing ahead if they do it right. 🤞🏻

I agree with your point. At the same time, prominent genderqueer characters and black leads are not exactly daring in 2020 (or 2017 when the show premiered).

“y’know.. sci-fi, fantasy, horror, scifant, romcom, whatevs.. Hey who didn’t reset the coffee maker!?” (honestly, glad you were that guy, because i didn’t want to have to be [wink])

yeah putting a black woman in charge and building a queer community on the ship sure are meaningless at a time when racist, religious extremists are attempting to remove the franchise from black folks and sack congress. /sarcasm

If you’re wondering why there are not more essays in these comments about how Fisher should realize Cyborg is a minor character or why he should know his place in the franchise, it’s because the people who would usually do that are busy either rioting or getting arrested.

Came here to say this. Like COME ON. Michael would compromise a mission if she was hungry or if a goldfish she met once was in a minute amount of danger. But most of all to suit whatever selfish flight of fancy she has wrapped herself in at that moment. Saru is dealing with potential genocide of his race and this

It’s not just that they are sexist, it’s a type of sexism that comes from the original incel group (who call themselves that.) If you’re acting like a MAGA asshole but you say you aren’t a MAGA asshole, I’m still going to call you a MAGA asshole. You can like it or not, but it doesn’t change what you are. If your
