Really I would say its a toss-up between Rasterbator and Inkscape. The former creates a halftone of the image (think dots), that looks pretty good from far enough away, and it will save ink to a degree. On the downside, we are talking dots. The latter, you can use "trace bitmap" to do what the other guy did and it

Metrix + IrfanView = Color Match!

I use Pidgin (Gaim)every day. But, yes, I would have to second (or third?) the comment about it still being a beta. While yes, it is a final beta, it is still a beta. That being said, I like the new look from the screenshot.

Minor "feature," it minimizes all types of windows, including pulled out menus such as color and borders in Word and Excel ... any way to fix this.

And no, as much as we would like there is no port of FUSE to windows (yet). Unless I am mistaken, which i will be big enough to admit if someone links me. Yes they are working on it, but it should be some time. There really aren't that many filesystems in user space for Windows, or so it seems. Anywho...

Yeah, great idea indeed! I have a 32MB one from Walmart (they come in various sizes ranging from 16 to 256 last i checked). I sounds perfect for this kind of use.

I've been using DTA since near its inception. It has come a long way from its humble beginnings. I actually learned more about this tool in this article. Thanks for the additional info. :)

Question though, will I be able to access all my files, or will this be like the plentiful VMs out there? If I do my modeling in blender in Linux, and my video editing in Windows, will both be able to talk to each other? I am a newbie at Linux, despite my on-again/off-again relationship with Linux, and Debian in

@Torley: Since my last post didn't work, plaintext will do. I said that I haven't used GIMP in a while, but last I checked, they had a seemless texture tool. I think that if you just type the name of the program, "seemless," and tutorial, you should get something

@Torley: I haven't used

Now, the question on anyone's mind who still uses napster, how will this affect my mp3s downloaded from this service?

I have to agree that while my roots are in moray/povray, I think Blender is the best. Unfortunately, I got out of practice, and found it harder than ever to start back up. I think one of the only drawbacks is for the newbie, it is like sensory overload. All the keyboard commands can be overwhelming, and the

IIRC, VirtualBox is another of the VMs out there. I haven't done much research on it, but it seems to be a viable alternative if someone wants to use both at the same time. Both tout the ability to install linux without partitioning. Maybe Virtualbox should get its own article? Maybe? [puppydog eyes] :-p

I have a feeling that after the chalkboard globe idea was published, a bunch of people thought, "Hey, I could make a chalkboard [item]!" So far, I have seen the globe, a calender wall, and now wine bottles. What will they think of next?! They look cool though. Keep up the good work.

For PC, AnalogX has a good text to speech (copy paste text, export to wav, combine and convert in Audacity to mp3 by chapter). Granted it may have a few steps, but it works.

@cprompt: While I can play the midi on my lg8100, i cannot set it as a ringtone. Anyone have a clue how this can be accomplished? I will google it later to see if it is even plausable. BitPim seems to be looking better at the moment, lest this works.
