My mom always told me about Reagan firing the air traffic controllers as a foundational act of destruction against the fabric of American society.

My boss: “Why aren’t the daily reconciliations finished yet?”

+ 1 for the meteorologist role. Both my grandfathers were farmers, and one thing they taught their grandchildren was how to predict the weather.  You get used to telling the cloud formations, the blending of the winds, or how the animals react.

My wife and I live in NYC but she grew up on a dairy farm in Western NY. Some of her family are still actively farming. The technological innovation in modern farm equipment is mind boggling. Farmers already have to be brilliant (acting as Veterinarians, Engineers, Botanists, Meteorologists - among many other roles)

I recently found out about California’s Gold show on PBS and at first I thought this is some hick going around doing corny/lame stuff but over a few episodes I grew to love the show and him. I wish I could find half the joy he has for life and for what would think are the smallest things.

Sounds like they’re planning to basically filter the lithium out of the water. Which could actually improve the water quality, or could be done in a way that did.

YESSSS!  Always cool to see my namesake.

People that live in the desert year round in the middle of nowhere are a different breed, man.

man I love Huell, he was a treasure.

Went to the visitor center, though. Was actually kind of cute. We were the only visitors there that day (go figure) and so the ranger on duty was very kind.
