We had a running joke at work where when somebody didn’t know how to access something or was a little lost and asked for help the others would freak out and start failing around saying in a Russian accent “I can do that! I can do that!”

But paying them a legal wage means the employer only make $1 million dollars instead of $1.2 million dollars. Won’t somebody think of the profits?! =(

The value of community.

Don’t forget the state and federal taxes. Small peanuts individually, but when this happens a million+ times a year it adds up. Just another tax avoidance scheme by the same people who like to point toward our underfunded schools as reasons not to fund them.

If they had been paid the legal wage, if they worked about 10 hours, they would've been scammed out of 390 dollars every day. Wow.

So much better than Cash Cab! Good for them.

Maybe his classical theater training will rub off and the break up album will be in iambic pentameter.

it’s because he knows the dirty things going through your mind and is being a sarcastic arse and making you laugh in public

My god, that might be the most resplendent pregnancy photo ever. May I hope to look 1/100th as good if I ever pop out a tiny human. That DRESS!!!

Haven’t heard yet what solution employer’s Corp HR will implement by Dec 1, but the shitty creative jobs, and shitty fashion jobs, are like 90% held by females here. If you’re working weekends and traveling to nyc from Texas

Thanks! I just wish freelancers would talk more openly about their shitty pay so that companies might be shamed into paying them a fair wage, whether they’re being compensated for their time or product. I believe that if the very loyal readers of this blog knew what their favorite writers were paid it would definitely

Hahaha that’s cute. I didn’t “follow my dreams” to a profession that pays for shit and takes advantage at every turn. For many years I was a decently compensated writer and editor at a large newspaper that eventually laid off a shitton of people. Then that same newspaper stopped paying its freelance writers for the

That excuse only works if the chef is has equity in the business. Otherwise you’re working slave labor wages to fund someone else’s startup.

If you can’t afford to pay your workers fairly, you don’t need to be in business.

Ha. A bunch of the people are already being subjected to repeated wage theft.

Right? That’s always the argument. And yet there are so many examples of small businesses that already pay their employees fairly and are extremely successful. If you can’t afford to pay your workers fairly, you don’t need to be in business.

I came here to say this exactly.
