I think you failed to understand how Kickstarter works, then. It essentially is an investment, whether or not Kickstarter (the company itself) wants you to believe that.

They noted in the press release that nVidia was helping them port games to Linux, so it makes sense. I think nVidia is a clear partner to Valve and SteamOS at this point.

Considering all of them come with nVidia cards and Intel processors, that would be the right assumption.

Wow, way to be overly emotional about a video game's online mode.

Just so you know, that isn't evidence of anything. Developers will routinely test their software on multiple platforms, but in the end may not develop for them. Since GTAV was built on *gasp* PCs, then they have to have a PC version of the game for them to test and build on. Doesn't mean it will ever be publicly

You do realize that iOS 7, the latest version coming out, supports iPhone 4. So in no way is there a version of the OS that does not support the iPhone 4, so you can update to whatever "higher OS" you would need to play said game.

I, uh....I did read the article, quite closely. Were you replying to someone else?

Fair enough. I feel my view (from both inside and out) has been a bit different, regarding people being blacklisted for actions similar to this. Talented folks who were unable to get a job for years because they took their company to court over something like unpaid wages.

Oh definitely, he still certainly has options, but I think many big developers will look at this and be off put. It's a problem with the industry, because I think most developers realize they are doing something wrong / abusing employees, and are afraid of hiring someone outspoken in case they get a case brought on

The really shitty thing here is it is unlikely he'll be able to get a job in the game industry anymore. When he applies at any companies, they'll look him up and see this, and come to the notion he is generally a trouble maker and too much of a risk.

That was exactly my point. Typically you don't hear about contract positions when end of contract comes, but considering the low amount of the layoffs, that is a possibility.

Because it is media sensationalism. People seem to infer that because people have been let go, that the studio is not doing well, that something is going wrong behind the scenes.

Not sure why you make the assumption I am an abstract artist.

You find it hard to take artists seriously? You mean, like the artists who are designing the games you are playing, creating the movies you're watching, creating the interfaces you interact with on a day-to-day basis? Yeah, let's not take those people seriously, just because you don't get "abstract" art we should

It makes me sad that you thought my comment was directed at you. Love the book, backed it for the 3 book edition on KS. Can't wait to get my copy.

Said like a true asshole.

Not really? A lot of dumb people tend to miss out on the obvious.

Russian domain + announcing new Source Engine version. Both could be true, but honestly, Valve doesn't really do obvious "countdowns" or anything like that. At least from my experience. So...we'll have to see.

Aw yeah, I'm so mad that a mod team is making a Halo game I can't play on my Xbox, that probably will never be finished! Grrrr! How will I live with myself?
