I think Caroline hit the nail on the head when she said in the review that so much of the Alex/Maggie storyline works better on paper than in practice. Both of the actresses are great, but even a great actor can’t make all the times they have to make subtext into text work.

David Harewood is often a fine actor (“I am Cyborg Superman!” notwithstanding) but in the scene where he finds out his father is alive, he got all wild-eyed and manic and at one point delivered a line as though he was doing a Daffy Duck impression. Of all the weird performances this show has been home to, that moment

I get why people are frustrated with the show, and your review touches on some of what I consider to be the strengths and weaknesses here, but when a reviewer comes right out and says they cannot review a show on its own merits, I am forced to wonder if they’re the right person for the task.

I have a lot of respect for

I wish just one of the headlines about this would not give Trump credit for something that Congress decided in 1992. That shouldn’t be hard to do, given that he had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the decision to release the files, or the timing of their release.

“Gleaming some weird shit” would more or less be the same as “polishing a turd,” and everyone knows you can’t do that.

There’s guitar, but it’s mostly heavily processed so that it sounds more like a keyboard.

But soon, without Victor Garber, which makes me sad, but I’m always surprised when a new season starts up and he’s still in this, so it’s not really a shocker. Still, if we’re only left with the worst half of Firestorm, that’s not great news.

Siskel and Ebert famously hated that metric, but knew it was incredibly helpful in establishing their national reputation.

In Scorsese’s defense, his full comments included the fact that the rating metric of the aggregate sites indulge something that consumers want, and his sorrow seems to be that films which are a bit

Yeah, the one element of “taking back” this song (or whatever they’re doing) that really bugs me is that he still gets royalties for every download or stream.

It figures that they finally make him the Fastest Man Alive in the episode where he doesn’t make that claim at the top of the hour.

I can’t believe they wrote off Julian with that single scene of Kevin James opening his mail and then never mentioned him again.

I’m down for this show to be fun again. Not the show’s fault, but the world is such a shitshow right now, that the best thing they can do is be escapist fun. Last season, they were not.

If they kept that premise, but cut it down to a quick two-second riff, it’d be just fine as a running joke.

Even if one concedes that he’s capable of being a fine actor, his career is filled with such an overwhelming sense of laziness that it rarely matters. And that’s fine and all, dude can do what he wants, but let’s not pretend that he’s some kind of trapped genius waiting to be unfurled. At best, he’s a competent actor

As a big fan of The La’s, the show really needs to knock it off with “There She Goes” all the goddamn time. They’re starting to make me hate the song (in conjunction with all the other places it’s been used over the years, I suppose). It wasn’t even something most kids were actually listening to in 1991.

Yeah, I get that. It’s just from the same production house who did exactly that with last season of The Flash, and that makes me sort of pre-exhausted by the idea of mopey Supergirl. Especially in a premiere, it just felt so downbeat (especially since they built in a time jump of several months, and could have limited

I, for one, am now looking forward to the upcoming feature film Star War: The Previous Jedi.

Karatar: (inexplicably male monster voice) I am the future Supergirl!

Cyborg Superman (appearing out of nowhere): I am Cyborg Superman!

Comment/username synergy.

We can but hope.

Wouldn’t that submarine have broken in half, though? There’s no way they’re built to be held aloft by one small point in the center of such a large, metal craft.
