The idea that women didn’t work outside the home until the 1970s is one of the most obnoxious rewritings of history. There was a brief period after WWII when upper middle class, married, white women with children stayed home. Unmarried, young, poor and immigrant women have always worked.

The whole “tearing the fabric apart” thing drives me nuts. One, for all the sexist garbage this implies. Two, though, because it acts like women wanting freedom to leave the house is the only reason why one parent doesn’t stay at home, ruining society’s pretty things. Society should never have depended on this

I don’t drink and I haven’t had sex yet. The former is forever, the latter has a big YET because it’s definitely something I’d like to do, but only with the right guy, and I haven’t met any of them yet. I’ve stopped telling people both of these things; I stopped years ago. Not because I was ashamed, but because it’s

I had a friend ( I use that word verrrrry loosely here) who as a 30+ year old woman who hung out with single people in their low 20’s, took such an interest in my status as a virgin, it rivals only that of the Tea Party. After telling everyone, for god’s sake she told her brother that she felt the need to protect me,

*SHARK NOISE!!!*

This picture describes my dating life right now.

8 years ago today I was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer at the age of twenty. Today I’m alive, healthy, and thriving. So fucking thankful.

I have this really nasty, sneaking suspicion that the difference between the military physician declaring your hymen accidentally broken or broken through intercourse depends on...well...and that the position tends to attract those interested in exploiting it.

I think the biggest thing everyone should realize about having children, is that so long as things in the US remain as they are, being a “choice mom”, or even a “traditional” nuclear family unit with children, is for the affluent.

“I want to push your head down really hard while you give me head”

It's amazing how they both say that babies are a gift and at the same time consider them consequences and punishment for fucking. Make up your minds, assholes.

“So… you’re still abortion-minded, even if you happen to be tubally pregnant?” she asked.

....what? Morning sex is the best for so many reasons!! First thing after I wake up is literally the only time my brain isn’t whizzing in a zillion different directions, so I’m much more relaxed and into getting sexy. I’m also not exhausted/exasperated from dealing with bullshit all day. It’s a good reason to stay in

I never thought she’d make it to college

YESSSS!!! I could not agree more! FMLA is bullshit! We need actual paid family leave! If “political reasons” make Hilary take that as her issue so be it so be it! I don’t care. All I care is that she is talking about it and NONE of the other candidates is.

Uh, FMLA covers both mothers and fathers equally allowing for 12 weeks of unpaid leave after the birth of a child as well as to be a caregiver.

Can you imagine the reaction if she DIDN’T mention her daughter and granddaughter? They would then have evidence of what a cold bitch she is (which they really really want to believe) this is just another piece of evidence that as a women, no matter what you do you. can. not. win.

That’s why we need to have paternity leave as well, so everyone can take the same amount of leave and put an end to the idea that it’s only the women who’ll be missing work.

I don’t think she’s trying to downplay her strength, I think she’s is trying to counter the perception that she’s a robot devoid of human feels. Being a strong woman and being perceived as maternal are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
