Fun read. But come on... we all know there is one element that did elevate SMB3 above the pack (while acknowledging that it is a brilliant symphony of well-executed ideas): The leaf. The leaf was everything. You got a tail, you could fly... who ever wanted anything but the leaf?

  • a sliding Hammer Mario graphic (Hammer Mario can’t slide in the actual game, probably because the team wanted to allow players to crouch on hills and hide from enemy fireballs);

Base sentimentality is keeping the Jungle Cruise alive, I’m convinced of it. Because it was Walt’s favorite, and for no other reason. But someone high up in the office must REALLY love the Jungle Cruise.

I’m still surprised at just how many years it took me to notice the hanging corpse in the stretching room. I had been to Disney World four or five times when I was little but I never actually looked up at that point until I was in high school. (As a direct result, I’ve been much more mindful about figuratively and

I’d include the Hall of Presidents on that list too. Best air conditioning in the park!

Agreed, Big Thunder after sunset is the best way to ride it. The lamp-lit ambience is just so well done.

The Haunted Mansion! I remember going through the mansion when I was around nine to ten. Of course that meant I really did believe whatever was told me so when the narrator said the ‘ghosts may have stuck to you and are following you now’ line, I panicked and ended up crying during our whole trip haha. Columns plays a tiny bit differently to Bejeweled - it's more in the vein of Tetris... You're still matching strings of jewels, but in Bejeweled the board is already filled and you swap positions. Columns has strings of jems dropping down in stacks of 3 to an initially empty board.

The best Sailor Moon game is the Sailor Moon Another Story RPG for the SNES. Too bad it never got an official English release.

So Bejeweled Clones are now called Candy Crush Clones. King has won. Evil has triumphed over good.

So....just to make sure I’m clear, there are real actual human beings who:

But it’s all about transparency in games journalism!

LOL!!! OMG, I bet I downloaded the same file! We did the same thing—crowding around the screen and being like “OH WOW OMG I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S THE MOVIE”. I had NO idea what was going on. LOL I remember we laughed at the disco epic-ness of the transformation music because we were so used to the Dic Dub. Now I wouldn’t
