While I love Madoka Magica, I think it works best with an audience that's already familiar with the tropes of Magical Girl anime. Otherwise, much of the plot twists and turns would be lost on a new viewer.

Haibane Renmei! That's what it was! I remember watching an episode or two of this something like ten years ago and thinking is looked really pretty, but wasn't fun or fast enough for young me. Since then, I've been meaning to try it again, but could never find it.
