Answer: four sports that can be played and/or practiced in most parks for the price of ball (plus one glove.) Now compare that to golf and tennis which usually revolves around a country club or requires a membership, caddy fees, green fees, lost or replaced balls, and expensive equipment.
Tennis has been around for.fucking.ever and has always catered to the elites (read: white guys). Those other sports were everyman’s games, so a greater number of people had access to them.
