I think you should, its a really fun game. I think fighting games are special because the community/friends aspect of it is the most important part, and if you join in on the fun too late, then you miss out on a lot of it.

I just hope the fighting game community doesn't find themselves in a sticky situation.

That's true. WoW is particularly guilty of this. Their female human models have giant weapon model scaling, so their 2handers are amazingly big. It's weird, I played the crap out of soul blade, calibur 2/4, but it really wasn't for the competitiveness/game play. It was always the extra single player component to me that made it fun for me. I'm not really that great at 3D, which is why i stick to 2d though.

Charge characters are a lot easier on the stick than controller. The circular motioned characters take a lot of getting used to. If your brother bought it recently, there's a learning curve you got to go through.
