I’d suggest a Cadillac ELR. It’s definitely offbeat and rare, great for commuting and good for road trips. Virtually new ones are under 30 and the interior is nicer than the Volt.

Swapped my ‘02 Saturn SL2 for a ‘17 Mustang GT with everything on it for no increase in insurance with AAA once I’d added alarms to the Mustang that the Saturn didn’t have.

Insurance is weird. I went from a 96 Civic Coupe to a 08 Elantra Sedan and my rates went up 40% with no added collision/comprehensive. I’m told the Elantra will do more damage to another vehicle, structure, or pedestrian, and that’s why it went up.

Yeah most of the insurance factor was the fact that I was 19, male, lived in NJ and wanted a V8 muscle car.
