I saw a tweet the other day that essentially said we’re progressing towards a future where more and more women that are running for office will absolutely have sent nude photos to people at some point throughout their life. So how we navigate that and make the tide turn away from shaming and into accepting that it’s

Totally. I went to see the doc about Jay Maisel, and I realized and lamented...gone are the days you can work in the creative arts and use the fee from one gig to put a down payment on a property. Oh how I wish I’d been born about 30 years earlier, in that sense.

This is an example of why unions exist, including musicians unions.

As a network television editor I can attest to how mystifying the freewheeling use of music on YouTube is to me. Every cue I’ve ever used in television had been meticulously logged and paid for. Successful composers in film and television are handsomely compensated, and rightfully so. Music budgets for larger studio

Deadspin forever. Fuck Jim Spanfeller and Paul Maidment

Legit got a little bit of eye fatigue from the 60fps and the jerky camera movements.

So brave.  I managed about 20 seconds.

It was (is?) the only sports site I’ve read on any sort of regular basis.

Fuck Jim Spanfeller

Then you’d be forced, as a supposed creative, to make different choices about how to make your show feel “slick”. Or to give up on that angle for another one that matches your budget.

An aside, but it seems like Youtube/Google is punishing all the history channels by demonetizing them? Is that just their advertising execs going overboard because history has some violence, or is it Google’s attempt to appease the Chinese Communist Party so that they can get back into China?  Or both?

I watched it for 5 seconds and noped out right away. I honestly don’t get what people see in videos like that. Before anyone says “you’re probably too old to get it”, I’m a young. People were making videos like this when I was in high school and no one paid any attention to them.

there’s a huge difference of sharing your work, or even giving it away for someone to enjoy, and someone actively using it in something for profit. If H&M saw your doodle, liked it and slapped it on a bunch of shirts, you’d be cool with it? That’s basically what these people are doing: finding “free” art\music, and

Youtubers and “influencers” are a cultural cancer. Stop making stupid people famous\rich.

I watched a minute of it and it started to give me a headache. Ugh.

Sheesh, how can people watch videos like that “thrift with me”one on this article? There’s a jump cut every second; the volume fluctuates wildly and annoyingly, and her whole fake persona seems to be in wanting to be the most unlikable human being imaginable.

“But they’re getting paid in EXPOSURE!”

JK LOL LMFAO ROFLMFAO SMH

As a creative professional, the people that are chill about their work is being used w/o compensation drives me bananas. It ruins it for everyone, because it makes it soooo much harder to negotiate a fair fee. Stop giving away your shit for free, folks!

Interestingly the company that produces Juul also produces Pax Era THC pods. In the past 2 years they have aggressively marketed the Pax Era system through dispensaries, often times giving the device away for .99 as long as you buy a $60+tax pod. Now you are locked in to their system as opposed to the 510 style, much
