I know more than a few “gentlemen” here in the hoodie-hoods of Detroit who would ‘welcome’ the rural militias of Michigan coming to the city to terrorize.

Even hours away from death, Cummings was still signing subpoenas to hold this administration accountable!
Seriously. I hate that Splinter is gone and the sad thing is, I don’t miss it as much for their own posts as for the bulk of smart commenters who dug deeper and offered additional links and information. I can read the news anywhere, but I don’t dip into comment sections anywhere outside of the GMG...which I guess…
I miss splinter/Gawker/jez in their previous iterations where it was less performatively woke snark and celebrity coverage, and more actual analysis and insight. I learned a lot in those days and it's been lacking. I want it back, but as how it used to be.
Don’t worry he’s already walked it back and is blaming the media for misconstruing his statements “to advance a biased and political witch hunt against President Trump.”
How fucking DARE you talk about due process and blocking legislation. You worthless fucking swamp turtle. Go home and die.
I hadn’t seen a posting regarding the passing of Rep. Elijah Cummings. It’s a sad loss for Congress and I hope, wholeheartedly and unabashedly, that Rep. Cummings will haunt Trump for the rest of 45's wretched existence. And to connect it to the actual story I’m commenting on: he can also haunt Donj & Van-Van and Eric…
Today’s big winner was George W. Bush.
The Trump Presidential Library will probably also host a KFC and a check cashing place.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a collective atmosphere of permanent two drinks in pished and people just going “yeah, do whatever you fucking want mate.”
Proof that not only are all the “adults in the room” gone, but the secretaries have even checked out and are no longer even trying to make his dictation sound like they came from an adult.
While I agree that voluntary M4A is likely what we’ll end up with, that’s not really what Pete is proposing. He’s proposing a buy in to medicare. If we make it a public option, it needs to be a free (or next to it) option. What we’ve seen so far with public option plans is that they’re not much cheaper than private…
But Warren, now a frontrunner, will have to come up with a better answer to the question of how to pay for Medicare for All
Exactly.
No premium union insurance is nice. It’s also a rarely seen benefit nowadays. The unions that managed to keep it had to make significant sacrifices to do so. Mr Tits is a pilot, and it’s not even a consistent benefit with the union airlines at this point. All of those airlines that kept it forced their pilots…
Mayor Pete’s first major job out of college was for “consulting” firm McKinsey. Which essentially advises vulture capital firms on their “acquisitions,” (read, load them up with company debt and fees, and then cash out by forcing them into bankruptcy). Of course he isn’t for Medicare for All, and/or single payer.
I just don’t like mayor Pete. He’s too conservative for me.
Pete, nobody cares. Scurry back to whatever weird colony of homunculi that sprouted you.
