Comedians (and Shaq) are the best guests because they know the assignment - have fun and be entertaining. The (only) gimmick is watching the wheels come off as questions get more in-depth, not in actually giving thoughtful answers.

A substantially worse Taxi Driver -AND- King of Comedy
My thoughts exactly! This article felt more like classic AV Club than the clickbait hot takes we’ve been getting (and kind of made me want to watch Madame Web). So I’m not complaining.
I saw his post, too. It’s amazing he lasted as long as he did at AV Club, but considering most of his tenure has seen a major dip in overall quality writing here maybe it isn’t so surprising. “Most bylines” is definitely a case of quantity over quality, but the guy must have grown some thick skin considering the…
Hopefully Paste’s Editors can fix that (and they’re keeping the community comments!)
When it’s genre related news remakes it’s called a “re-boot”
so Jared Leto as Powell?
Two of my favorite films too. I actually did some tests for an animated version but realized I’d just be copying Laughton and Mitchum because it’s so perfect so why bother.
As a huge fan of the film and of Mitchum, I’m still always interested in fresh takes on the same material. If the source material is good it can survive a bad adaption. Not sure Derrickson is up to the challenge, I always thought Robert Eggers could do something cool with Hunter.
Why didn’t he just borrow the Wahlberg wig?
Networks have been licensing their shows and movies out to other outlets, be it cable channels or streamers, to make more money off of them for decades. Law & Order is on, like, every cable channel and it’s all ok. Not sure why AV Club has been ringing the exclusive content alarm but it’s not a an issue. When WB…
Agree, it’s good and bad, and none of the 1990s Marvel cartoons holds up as well as Batman and Superman animated series (and even Batman has some shakey early episodes). I believe the animation studio (AKOM) Bruce Timm fired for turning in some janky Batman animation was the same studio that animated most of X-Men. To…
he’ll be the eighth actor to don the suit since the franchise began in 1962
As hard as it might be to believe now, with weekly airings of the Star Wars prequels on TNT normalizing and canonizing the once-despised trilogy
Suspecting someone who has a carefully cultivated public image and is exceptionally private might be gay because they like to spoon from behind and have little experience pleasing a woman well into adulthood doesn’t make them a “homophobe”.
Like, I really wanted to see his process behind designing the spaces. And Bobby’s part was a much heavier lift—home renos in 4 days!—than some of the other guys’ (I’m lookin’ at you, Karamo with poorly defined “culture” duties and Antoni with your non-cooking cooking). I think it was right for him to get out.
Is it because he’s a lesbian?
One of the fun set pieces in The Dark Knight features Batman chasing the Joker in the Batmobile and the Joker comically fires a bazooka at the Batmobile.
People always learned the wrong lesson from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Just because they weren’t high camp of Schumacher’s Batman didn’t mean they were ultra-serious or gritty. Batman Begins might have taken the Batman character seriously, but it’s full of fun moments breaking up the gloom and doom. But for…
I’m often reminded after I see a bad movie that just as much work went into it as went into a good movie. Usually the problem stems from a poorly concieved concept from the start. With Eternals, it’s not even that Marvel tried something different, it’s that they didn’t even learn from the whole Inhumans mess. It just…
