I don’t know much about the Harry Potter, so I looked up these banking goblins. Holy cow, it’s less subtle than Watto or Nosferatu. I assume the goblins were described as such by Rowling and it wasn’t just the films’ character designers - right?

Is anyone anywhere actually excited for Peacemaker?
I would say that having a personal element to the proceedings is fine. It’s just that that doesn’t always have to mean that the villain is someone from deep in Bond’s past or whatever.
I loved how they were able to flesh out Casino Royale yet keep it so close to Fleming’s novel. My favorite Bond films are those that retain Fleming’s plot (or the spirit, at least). The stories and villains were all distinctly different, pure pulp.
In a simpler time of 2020, I joked about the “Proud Boys” starting New Freeland and working on their gymnastics. Then Jan 6 rolls around, it almost happened, and Jay Johnston, of all people, was unironically involved. I mean, what in the hella fuck?
[sigh] not knowing that quote and taking your comment seriously would have gotten Zardo guy the boot from old AV Club.
It’s him. There’s a video floating around where it’s clearly him.
I still remember Warner [uh, spoiler] hoisting the SB trophy and shouting “THANK YOU JESUSSS!”. It was pretty cringy, but I guess it’s what he felt got him there.
Det. Logan is probably re-assigned to Staten Island
But will we get an appearance by his brother, Banana-Fo Fett?
No, I agree. Morrison has said he doesn’t really know much about the character, and it sounds like he spent about :45s total recording all of the lines over the phone. They could have just kept the original voice since he has a space helmet on.
They actually do some nice VFX breakdowns with some industry heavyweights.
The whole thing sounds like a publicity stunt by both parties pushing products on the other side of the bell curve.
Glad to see Hamish Linklater make the list. I loved him in Legion and Fargo so it was nice to see him get a meatier role. He has one of those soothing voices that can monologue (his mother was a diction coach, which explains a lot), so even when Midnight Mass’ theological chats went on too long I didn’t mind at all.
Sarah Squirm making the list is definitely a hometown shout out since that Update bit is the only thing she’s really done and it was just like, ok.
Also, he’s Portland’s Mayor’s dad.
His Pacific Art Company was one of the first to get into home video distribution, which is kind of a big deal. Really interesting career he had.
BvS was just so over-stuffed, you could basically have made 3 or 4 different movies from its various threads - Batman, Luthor, Wonder Woman, forming the JL, Apocalyptic fever dreams, etc.
I hated Ezra Miller’s man-child Barry in Whedon’s cut, but in Snyder’s cut I can see what he saw in him. It works. It also helps that the uber-visualist Snyder knows how to shoot The Flash where Whedon’s TV-framing highlights his clunky football-shaped head.
I actually agree with the author, Snyder whiffed hard with the joyless MoS and BvS, but I find the operatic energy of his Justice League cut pretty egaging. He managed to make a guy whose whole character was “Uncle Space Axe” into a compelling villain. He still can’t help needlessly waste time table-setting for future…
