@Bigdaddyrobb: I think we are becoming a scarce breed.
I can't say it looks very comfortable to work there. But it's nice room, lot's of gadgets I wish I had.
I started using WMP 10 regularly. But I still use MediaMonkey when I have bigger organization tasks.
@vlatro: Interesting. I usually install the K-Lite Codec pack with MPC. All the video and audio filters that work in MPC work in WMP.
@SamhitaEpeius: This sounds like 3D Max. Go to Customize|Preferences|General|UI Display and uncheck Autoplay Animation Preview.
This worked for me a couple of years ago.
@Doc Benway: You probably talked to some clueless reps at TW. I've only ever heard the opposite. (I assume you're talking about TV Cable Boxes.)
@smcallah: I've had my own 3rd party (DLink) cable modem for about 2 years. No problems so far.
Sometimes the print on the label side chips off. Just fill the spot in with a sharpie. Good to go.
I had a bunch of books on tape. (Yes cassette tapes). I converted my favorite ones myself to mp3. Then I realized that I could just download the rest of them.
@Nihilexistentialist: Sorry, I thought I did. I don't spell check the way MS Word spell checks.
@Merricat: I spell check for common OCR errors. Here's an example of a text with extra line breaks. (Attached) It's very difficult to read an entire novel this way.
@inhacks: I sense the sarcasm, but I've got a couple of reasons for this process.
@Nihilexistentialist: I only spell check for common OCR errors, such as "Wiilow" instead of "Willow". If you use replace all there's usually just a few mistakes an any given Gutenberg etext.
@TheName: My experience with Calibre as an ebook library manager or conversion program wasn't positive. It didn't remove the extra line breaks for the files I tested, it doesn't spell check, and, finally, it doesn't create a table of contents from plain text or PDF files.
Here's how I do it.
@jlcd: Calibre is available for Mac, Windows and Linux.
