For future reference, when entertainment news uses ‘helmed’ in relation to a film/tv project, it’s almost always a reference to the director. It may even by a contribution of Variety-ese, and thus effective codified. At least, so it once was, in the halcyon days afore Ye Book of Faces.

Agreed - the book was awesome, one of the few “epic” horror stories I’ve ever read, but the miniseries was a pretty standard-issue bad King TV miniseries, with the exception of Curry, who was great. It seems like people now tend to think of his performance instead of the rest of it. Which I guess I can understand,

Yeah, Tim Curry was fantastic, but I honestly thought pretty much everything else was...not great. I think he just did such a good job that it colors everyone’s memory, honestly.

Is the 90's miniseries really iconic? I never thought it was all that good, and I don’t remember it really being lauded back in the day. That was an era ripe with mediocre Stephen King adaptations.

Isn’t the original also “beautiful but ultimately empty”?

Most aggressive response to public humiliation ever

Remember when this show had a million characters? All gone now.

I am pretty sure that Jon doesn’t give a rat’s ass about being on the Iron Throne and he will let Dany have it no question as long as she helps him with the White Walkers.

Spring has been here for a week and finally winter arrives. figures.

That’s The Walking Dead.

Strange that the ruler of the 7 Kingdoms chews 5 Gum.

It’s a movie about a killer clown. Looks great to me.

This is already an immense improvement on the TV miniseries. Damn. This movie is gonna be the next The Shining, I think--artful and scary and intense.

He’s a better director than writer, that’s for sure.

I really hope this does well.

Shut up and take my multipass!

This is what I came to see, I’m excited to see what will be different this time around.

I’m hoping fans give it a chance. It’s got the perfect canonical cop-out: each iteration of Roland’s journey to the Tower is different.
