Yeah, I always admired a lot of their designs. I definitely had issues with quality in the past. I actually had one of the original Halo Pelican dropship releases and I donated it because I got so fed up with the fact that pieces just wouldn't fit together.
One of the coolest sets I got as a kid, and the only non-Lego set, was a Megablocks tank. It was super detailed and came with tons of smooth-surfaced "armor" pieces in different shapes, and a few other unique blocks that I used in all kinds of builds.
Older generations always say that they are frightened of what the future will be like once younger generations they don't quite understand are in charge, but I have to say, the future is objectively frightening.
Somehow, the more sympathetic version is actually more depressing
