I actually have found it to be a dismissive way to acknowledge something, especially by adding the "apparently." It says ,"I don't care enough to say something sensitive, like Condolences. In fact, part of me thinks you're lying anyway."

I think there are social factors contributing to the increased *reporting* of gang rapes. There is so much shame associated with rape that only when the victim dies or the victim is foreign does the rape get reported.
"Yeah, so that happened, apparently."
At the same time the budget grows, the population grows, the percentage of elderly grows, military expenditures have grown. If I have a budget of $100 and a population of 100 people in 2012, I spend $1 per person. If I have 110 people in 2013 and a budget of $105, the budget has grown by 5% but I am spending 95 cents…
The sequester is actual cuts. The proposed Republican budget (which is separate from sequester) has been described by them as just a slowing in growth of the budget, though that is debatable.
She's trying to be respectful of the experiences of other moms by getting it right. That's being decent, not dim.
She did not make up "baby blues". It is an actual term that doctors use to describe something not quite to the level of PPD. She didn't say she made it up, either. And for some reason, the dismissiveness of saying she did really got me mad. Probably a flare up of my own experiences of baby blues bordering on PPD.
At the end of the Chris Brown snippet, there was this: *_*
I didn't grow up poor. My dad worked in a steel mill. My family was classic lower middle class, but I never had a sense that we were poor. Then I started working at a non-profit where all my coworkers had gone to private boarding schools and brand name universities. I was the only one that went to a state college…
I saw the ad last week and then was shocked to see them prominently displayed at the Skechers store. I was really disappointed.
American media blurs nude images that air regularly in European countries. We are further along but still on the same spectrum.
When mainlining BSG, a bad episode is ok (although bad BSG is better than good Big Bang Theory). Just plug in the next episode and let the withdrawal symptoms fade away.
Don't forget Oedipus. The Greeks beat everyone.
Well, they found their next slogan right there.
The key is learning the ukulele. And focus on being sweet. When I drool over him, it's not because I think he's buff. ;)
Hmm. That sounds interesting. You liked it?
It's not just you. Every week, my husband and I note tha she is being tortured again. In fact, this episode was tame compared to what she usually gets. She's usually being tied up and repeatedly burned, stabbed, staked, and sliced. It is not good. I wonder if the actress complains. She should. It's getting boring.
I didn't say anything about crap he's gotten. He probably has. I haven't tracked that. I was refuting someone who said Diablo Cody never got crap. You need to talk Diablo Cody, not me, about that.
I saw lots of crap that she got. That she had no talent, just a shocking past that she used to market herself, as you say. People didn't like that she admitted it so honestly and unapologetically. You may not have seen it, doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Also Coke vs Coke Classic. Didn't the New Coke recipe get completely ditched long ago?
