@TopLevelExecutive: Interesting. She could work.
@roodles: That is kind of what I mean. It was not the marriage that helped her in a social climber way, but the divorce that actually gave her some credibility.
@LostBedStuy: Was it the popularity gained by the marriage that made the difference? I'm not questioning whether just being married impacts them. I'm wondering about a *famous* marriage that suddenly made them more famous, and then their careers took off.
@cpjones: I meant, do you think the marriage was actually what made the difference? It seemed to me that it was actually divorcing Cruise that helped Kidman's career, not marrying him.
Can anyone think of an actor whose screen career improved when they married someone special (not behind the scenes as a producer, etc.)? Just curious, because actors get accused of marrying for their careers, but I can't think of anyone.
But there are plenty of non-parenting things that people don't reveal, too. Do you tell co-workers that you are in massive debt? Share with your neighbor that your brother is in jail for shoplifting? Or do you just nod and say things are fine?
@chatterboxwriting: Good for you for getting out. It is not easy.
My mother helped a woman she knew who was being abused. My mom promised to help her in any way she could, and we arranged to take her young son while she did everything needed to get the divorce going.
@voxfox: Lauri is definitely being sarcastic. I don't think anyone doubts McAdam's discipline and talent. :)
Perhaps a woman who has a lower BMI than her husband is better able to withstand the onslaught of negative messages coming from society about weight, so her self-esteem is not as battered, so she isn't depressed or angry, which makes the guy like her better. Whereas the guy just has to turn on any sitcom to see that…
@negativethree: The guy who hacked Sarah Palin's email just guessed the answer to the security question, which was where did you go to high school. He tried Wasilla High and boom, was in.
@poppy: I don't think most people have. That was a funny question. And I'm not even a 50 year old who watches nature docs.
@poppy: I wonder if he was looking for profiles that suggested that kind of activity? He probably didn't hack the email of 50 year olds who talk about nature documentaries.
Every time I have been called a bitch, it has been by someone (male or female) who's intention is to diminish and insult me. And that is how I take it. I have no desire to reclaim it, since most people who use it don't care a bit what it means to me.
@Le Mango: This is my nightmare since my daughter stutters.
@blah: That is what I thought, too. I'm not hip, though, so that may reflect poorly on you that we had the same thought.
@dmart91: The drug's intended purpose was to STOP BLEEDING. That is all the pharmacist needs to know.
@NefariousNewt: Absolutely. Arrgh.
I had to take an anti-bleeding medication after my miscarriage. My husband went to get it from the pharmacy for me. He said the pharmacist was going over everything in the bottles (pain meds, etc.) and got to that one and paused. The pharmacist said it was usually for after a miscarriage or abortion, gave him a…
