I try to be a little more forgiving of the parents. Nasser groomed them, too. After all, he was a a high-powered doctor who was hand-picked by MSU/USAG and treated Olympians. Who were they to question his methods? This whole thing is awful.

YEP. If it involved the exact same events, but happened to the men’s gymnastics team, I highly doubt the cover-up would’ve gone on as long as it did.
It’s difficult to describe what it’s like to hear 50 women, one after another, describe the same horrific and life-changing experiences, and still know that they don’t even represent half of this one man’s victims.
“Sir, I’m happy to report that if we don’t factor in your terrible diet, complete lack of exercise, your obesity, and the dangerous fat deposits in your arteries, you’re in excellent health.”
I never got the Presidential award because I could never do a single pull-up. Girls only had to do one, but I couldn’t and I still can’t. I CRUSHED the sit-and-reach, though. I didn’t take all those ballet classes for nothing!
Oh, this makes me so mad.
SHINY!!! I would make my own version of Granny’s Chips with that bad boy. 94.4 carats hanging from 63.6 carats. Swoon.
Definitely. Think about China and Russia, which have state-sponsored training programs where kids go live at boarding schools from the time they’re like 7 to train. With all the crazy stuff coming out about doping in Russia and how lots of young athletes were basically forced to participate in that (how are you going…
100% agree with all this. This is no different than Penn State and Sandusky, yet it’s not getting remotely as much press and therefore not as much public pressure for justice. Sadly, I think it’s because the victims were all female.
Plus they’re not allowed to have their parents present, and from what I understand, personal coaches take a less-active role at camp.
Nastia’s response to the whole thing was very flippant and disappointing.
All these idiots have been spending thousands of dollars on suites at Trump Hotels when they could’ve bought him off for a big bag of candy.
HOW DARE YOU
Lemon is the third-best after cherry and strawberry, but orange should just be thrown in the trash, so I guess that technically makes lemon the worst.
This is the big question. Lots of gymnastics fans are PISSED about USAG’s lack of consequences.
I have no idea where the USOC is on all this. They should be breathing down USAG’s necks, and yet...
The former CEO of USAG, Steve Penny, resigned and received a $1 million payout. The rest of the Board of Directors remains intact. So, no. No one is being held accountable. It’s awful.
I would just like to say a hearty FUCK YOU to USA Gymnastics. Over 100 athletes have come forward now, and USAG failed to report or actively covered up Nassar’s abuse of several of these young girls. And yet, almost their entire Board of Directors remains intact, and the CEO who resigned in the wake of all this…
I regret that I have but one star to give.
Right? I’m never surprised by this idiocy, yet it always takes me by surprise.
