I’m an American, but I moved to Australia 7 months ago. About a month ago, I was driving down the highway in suburban Sydney, and my husband let out a shriek from the passenger seat with his finger pointing out the window. I slammed on the brakes and yelled, “What?!”

The agency fee most likely includes the legal fees. In surrogacy situations, the surrogate will have her own lawyer, and that is usually paid for by the bio parents through the agency. The agency is definitely more than just a head-hunter.
Unfortunately, they are bound by laws setting maximum amounts you can pay your surrogate. There’s a public policy argument against people buying babies.

Same. All I wanted was to get dressed up and have a classy evening out, so we did dinner at a trendy sushi place followed by cocktails.
