But states now know that their legislation will be overturned by courts based on this case, which will likely dissuade them from passing legislation in the first place, especially now that the tide of public opinion has rendered anti-LGBT laws unpopular to begin with.

Not to mention that the Seventh Circuit covers the upper Midwest, much of which is governed by Republican legislatures and governors who enact anti-LGBT legislation all the time. They can’t do that anymore. I know that all my LGBT friends in my home state of Indiana are probably breathing a sigh of relief today.
