Hi! Left out the twist at the end due to a silly editing mistake. Actually, thanks for pointing it out or I wouldn't have noticed. Check out the addendum and let me know what you think of Pelant. (And, legit, thanks.)

I've been keeping up with this as well, and it's disappointing. Unfortunately, as a critic, I can really only judge the information that's in front of me and there was nothing to suggest fakery beyond the staged scenes that take place in every reality show.

No, and I wish it did, but I didn't fault the show for that because other documentaries don't have to follow a similar "How the hell did you find that person?" convention. It was a choice they made to follow standard documentary convention and I understand why they made that choice.

The show only IDs Sabrina as "Mennonite" but I figured there were more layers than TLC was willing to go into. Interested to see what you think later in the run!

They addressed this in the show: They would ask for one salary at first and more as they became more experienced

I think if this were a full-run series, she might get annoying quick, unless they gave her something to do, but she's never going to be integral to any part of the political plotline, making her place on the show a little more superfluous than the others.

The flashbacks are all in softer focus and are more saturated than the regular shows, which definitely helps. But their make up artist should also get major props.

The lure of absolute power? Charisma? A latent attraction to Big Mouth Billy Bass?

Really? Only seen an episode of Burn Notice here or there. That's no fun.
