I had assumed that already pregnant people would just be buying more/more expensive things as they saw her with them (eg she wears 8 million different trendy maternity dresses so regular people decide to buy 10 instead of 4). Your interpretation seems weirdly more right though - and scary.

It may fall under the "fair use" exemption as criticism or comment.

I am one of those hated people who allows "little dog syndrome" to happen. Their rage and dickish behavior is just so cute!

Two students were attacked at carleton last year and it seemed well handled to me. Within a few hours there were posters up with a description of the assailant and where it took place, along with numbers for campus security, the sexual assault centre, a walk home service, and a map of the lit/monitored campus paths

One of my econ profs mentioned a study (I wish could remember the specifics) that essentially said that women are much more likely to be shut down/viewed as abrasive and entitled if they attempt to negotiate their pay. If I can find it I'll post it here.

Dude - it obviously wasn't done out of desperation. These guys had hunting equipment and owned a truck, and evidently had enough money for gas for it.

If they were hunting for a wild bird I'd be more inclined to agree, but someone's pet in a suburban neighborhood is a whole different story. Beyond that, they shot it with a bow and arrow. Archery crap is expensive. If they can afford 80+ bucks for hunting tips, they can afford dinner.

I think the cruelty charge would have resulted from shooting it with a bow and arrow. There are approved methods for killing livestock that are different than the legal ways to hunt.

When I was competing seriously we got (along with the USADA anti-doping literature) a pamphlet saying that this stuff would make you poop yourself. Looks like they weren't lying!

That's what I thought too!

Steve King is also the noted genius behind "it should be legal to take children to dog fights because rapists can take minors across state-lines to have forced abortions." WHO IS VOTING FOR THIS MAN?

I'm in Ottawa at present and most people are shuffling around, hungover and exhausted but happy.

They'll have to be content with second place. That position is reserved for the marketing division of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation.

It's also offensive because it suggests that women (specifically women, never men) have their highest purpose in staying at home, and anyone who does otherwise only does it because they don't love their children as much as you do.

Oh god. I don't know why I expected anything else, but the level of violence there really caught me off guard. What a fucking scumbag.

It would be really interesting to see this study carried out in North America to look at the role that cultural gender norms play in this. I imagine (and have anecdata that suggests) it would be much less of an issue somewhere with fewer pressures to fulfill traditional gender roles.

They aren't a big deal at all. The closer thing to a presidential medal would be the Order of Canada, which was actually awarded to Henry Morgentaler, the doctor who was at the forefront of the fight to legalize abortion. I imagine that this will cause quite a stink, as this is the same douchecanoe who wanted a

Debbie Downer time: All I could think about while I was listening to this was "here is an animal that is apparently sentient enough to consciously alter its speech patterns in an attempt to communicate with us, and we are keeping them in oversized bath tubs." If they were ever to manage to actually talk to us, I think

Hurrah for poly-people!
