They’re not going to pull a Wii U because people are buying Switches. It might seem like Wii U support was dropped quickly but when you look at sales the customer base abandoned it way before Nintendo did. The entire year of 2016 they didn’t sell 1 million units.

Pretty sure Nintendo have developers that can do that if they want to but they do have to plan and schedule all development and games in advance and don’t think putting multiplayer is their top priority
