@Clifford T Meece: Maybe I'm wrong here, but I've always thought that it was areas where food was scarce where fat people would benefit the most out of being able to store that food to maintain energy when they no longer have any food source.

@That Guy: What I've grown to see is that smarter teens or more mature ones are the ones that end up depressed or with some kind of mental disorder. That could be a possible reason.

@Segador: It's funny that you'd say that, because most people are scared of searching in the unknown, when they could potentially die or find something they wish they hadn't in space rather than stay and die a slow-ish death on Earth.

@rathat: You can learn how a nuke works but how to build one is classified and plutonium/uranium are regulated as much as possible.
