Sure they are. There isn’t a way to implement socialism without authoritarianism unless you can get 100% of the people to buy in on the project and guarantee their progeny will also buy in. It’s literally impossible.
On a small scale (e.g. communes) it results in free riders until the group dissolves. On a large scale, it results in genocide, starvation, and/or suppression of human freedoms. You can’t create a commune of unwilling people without an authoritarian bend.
