not exactly a politician, but Ron Fucking Swanson.

Deadwood is awesome. gold and whores and watered down whiskey and mud and cursing and hoopleheads and cocksuckers with Wild Bill and Calamity Jane thrown in for good measure. Late 19th century depravity at it's best.

I don't get that at all. TP was a very dark and sinister drama with very dark and sinister characters., NE was a quirky comedy with quirky comedic characters. No darkness, nothing Lynchian at all, except both took place in a small town. They both premiered in 1990 so I don't see how one could have been influenced by

No Northern Exposure? The most original comedy of it's time. Best moments: grilling up mastodon steaks and cow tossing, the barefoot CIA chef and (sigh) Maggie's pixie haircut. What's not to like?

I watched 6 episodes of Wilfred back to back (mid season 2 I think).  I don't think you're supposed to do that…. I felt my own id sinking into madness for a few days.

I watched the first 10 minutes of Men and immediately deleted it from my dvr schedule.  just bad.  As a matter of fact, most of the new sitcoms are weak at best. I have hope for 'back in the game' only because the girl is hot and, well, Sonny Corleone. Crazy Ones is ok, but I get the feeling they're going to try and

"ninja skills" indeed.

in reply to Bender - facts and science are well within the reach of the layman, but they must seek it.  we're mostly lazy in that respect.

"the defendant is an entitled society harpy with a long and recorded history of bigotry. She stands accused of following and shooting a suspicious-looking black teenager in her building who as it turned out was an honor-student tutor visiting a neighbor's kid"

…and there we have it.  because I do my own research, weigh the facts and come to my own conclusions based on empirical evidence, I'm a sheeple who believes whatever my government tells me.  Who am I going to believe?  You or my lying eyes?

reading through a page of these comments has renewed my faith in mankind.  some left, some right, all well reasoned (but not <shudder> 'moderate'), and funny.  it's a really nice community you've all got here.

Justified. Hillbilly mafia and based on the work of the late great Elmore Leonard. nuff said.

This is so much win. But Pete should have played with them a little first.

Is 'newsroom' a show?  does anyone watch it?  well, besides media types who fancy seeing themselves as heroically heroic?

bad news…

The girls don't seem to care
what's on,
as long as they play till dawn.
Nothin' but blues and Elvis,
and somebody else's favorite song.
