I didn’t say they all sucked, as you can see by my post. I have great respect for a lot of public defenders, but we both know that it isn’t just the Underfunded True Believers who are performing that work.  There are also lawyers who couldn’t get other jobs doing the work, and those are the ones that sometimes suck.
