This seems similar (minus the freeze) to using cornmeal to clean a rug. That's a technique as old as the hills.

Hm, Collectible Automobile magazine has a monthly column devoted to just this question. So many choices...

Any car that costs more than I paid for my house is an immediate crack pipe.

@Tanshanomi: Dude, somehow you made this thing look better. Props.

When someone tailgates me, I like to brake a little without letting up on the gas. The brake lights going on tend to shake tailgaters loose. It works 75% of the time. I'd sure hate to lose the ability to do that.

I spent less than this on the '03 Matrix XRS that I bought used last year. I think about how much more reliable, how much more rust-resistant, and how much faster my 100,000+ mile Matrix is, and how many more years of service it will give me than this Volare. Still, there's something very alluring about that pumpkin

I've always had a soft spot in my heart — or is it my head? — for the Omnirizon. 8k is rich for my blood but I voted Nice Price anyway.

I rode to my first metal concert — Maiden in '87 — in a robin's egg blue '76 Pontiac Sunbird. That car was so not metal.

I respect this Blazer. But I'd rather have the '71.

It's all relative, of course, because none of my cars has been trouble-free. But my 1998 Toyota Sienna minivan saw the least time in the shop on average. Too bad the thing was so boring to drive.

News media in South Bend report that it's just the Army that's going to stop buying Hummers.

@Slave2anMG: When my ex-wife gave up her beloved '89 Corolla SR5 coupe, she took the shift knob as a memento. I envision all of these shift knobs stowed in underwear drawers across the country.

I don't understand — who would want a Dodge bleepin' Colt over a Civic of similar vintage? What is this world coming to?!!?

@Novaload: Is this a Gen-X bourgeoisie vs. Gen-Y proletariat thing?

@Murilee Martin: That's the difference between California and Indiana, I guess! Out here in flyover country, we loved our Cutlass Supremes.

@IamZardoz: Let's drop the latter into the former and find out!

When I was in high school in the early 80s, I had friends who would rather go without a car than have to drive something staid like this. And now here we all are waxing romantic over this plain little car. Has time put rose-colored glasses on us, or have we finally matured such that we can see this little brute's

I wouldn't. Which would probably earn me the highest scrutiny of any team in the race.

Cad, all the way. Lincoln remains irrelevant.
