The pedestrian was hit with the front right corner. Swerving three feet to the right would have been sufficient.
Lets put this another way. Low-beams illuminate out to about 180 feet (look it up) - at 45 mph (66 feet/second), that’s just shy of three seconds.
“it looks like the headlights didn’t illuminate her until about 3 nanoseconds before the time of impact.”
and Honda after that fact were bulletproof.
A DECADE ago. 14+ years ago
“A 1 million+ vehicle recall was issued in 2004, because the automatic transmission that was installed in the 2003-2004 Honda Accord seemed to be prone to early failure. Severe gear damage/breakage could cause the transmission to unexpectedly seize, which could obviously lead to an accident.”
Remove-and-replace - which is what the shops do - is the same.
I am surprised to see Honda Accord and Toyota Corolla on this list. Unless, of course, it is “make it 200,000 miles after replacing the transmission”.

“Overall, it sounds like a teenager being a teenager.”
“used cars in the 1-3 yr old category, I’ve found there hasn’t been much depreciation to be had”
“the original MSRP on that car was almost $64,000" ($34,490)
Do you have auto insurance? Do they cover bicycle accidents?

Tesla does not have an autonomous vehicle.
“But in self-driving cars, so far the cars have accounted for 100% of the accidents”
you have very little situational awareness because you’re not involved in the act of driving. If the car now suddenly needs you to take control - you have to drop everything, and try to take in what’s happening in an instant
