Corndog67 never mentioned race, but you assumed the demographic was race based on the crime statistics. Who’s racist?

They often unsnap the strap on their holster and put their hand on their weapon for a routine traffic stop. Why is that offensive? If they draw their weapon, they have to justify that when asked - by describing why they perceived a risk.

Oh my. Breaking the law is a choice. Getting sick is not.

You don’t know what that means, do you?

owning one is a different, deeply disappointing, matter.

Yes. If I was black, I might have done something like this -

I should have known the race card was coming. I’ve been stopped several times on my motorcycle, wearing a full-face helmet, where police could not see the color of my skin. No guns. Go back to The Root.

cops’ jobs are to protect us

In case you’ve forgotten, you are the one that asked how to reduce crime.

And if the person does have a weapon, none of what I’m saying applies!

“I’d say pointing a gun at a nonviolent offender is an increase of risk”

So your “rule by fear” statement is only applicable dictatorships. I was meaning here, in the US.

So pat them down for weapons

Can you give an example where deterring crime by consequences is problematic?

By making them afraid of the consequences. Instead of relying on a lawyer to get them a reduced sentence of probation.

“You mean probable cause as in ‘pulled you over because we got report of suspicious vehicle in the area’? probable cause.”

Most of the cars being chased are stolen
