Definitely. His little speech about choosing her to be his F.T.O. was too rehearsed.

So excited for Gravity! Looks like a good 'real science' science fiction film.

As others have said, Shaw is (to quote Finch) "additional help." She still gets her marching orders from Finch. (edit - I was wrong about the plutonium deal.)

I daresay Ravenous would probably make a good palate cleanser after watching The Colony, if only to remind you that a low-budget cannibal movie can still be fun. :D

I watched; I had fun doing so; I'll tune in next Monday to see if they can keep it up. It's clearly going to be a fast-paced show that knows how silly it is at heart, and I have no problem with that. :D

Just an FYI: Time Sandwich was last week (and it was awesome, to quote Jake :D). This week's episode is titled The Vault.

Both books were pretty good I thought. Queen of Angels is more about the mind and AI, but still features a fair amount of futuristic biochemistry (after all, this is the guy who wrote Blood Music), while Slant is more of an exploration of future society and culture (and sort of a techno-thriller or police procedural).

Been a while since I read it but I think the toilets were just high tech, not nano. They were detecting the 'infection' of peoples' medical nanotech, but mistakenly flagging it as a sickness like a common cold.

Greg Bear has you covered. 1997's Slant (sequel to Queen of Angels) features ubiquitous diagnostic toilets that figure into the plot and serve as an early warning that many citizens' psycho-medical nanotech has been 'hacked' by a nefarious secret organization.

Doesn't seem like a complete list without a couple of cowboys on it:

Extraterrestrial sentients that we meet would probably have their own blanket term for fellow intelligent lifeforms, so who knows? We might end up using their word!

Warning - spoilers follow (sort of; this has all appeared on io9 already): as a result of an industrial accident he's been poisoned and has like a week to live. Weakened by the toxic material, he finds some underground 'resistance' dudes (not sure who they are) who hook him into the exo in order to give him the

Matt became friends with the ex-military sniper and his spotter buddy last season when they were using him as bait to head-shot skitters, and by extension he got closer to Pope's Irregulars around then. I seem to remember Pope demonstrating some grudging respect for the kid's determination at the hospital on a couple

Oh hell yes!

I had the same deja vu when Cochise showed up. Something about his head movement and vocal manner immediately reminded me of Abe from Hellboy - and now I know why!

Admit it - you're holding giant trash bag full of N2O right now, aren't you?

As a 'realistic' example of inter-system military organization and logistics, I've always liked how C.J. Cherryh's Union-Alliance universe works. Even given limited f.t.l. capability, there are serious obstructions to maintaining, governing and policing far-flung planets, stations and outposts. You can't even count on

<clicks link> Whoa... Thanks for the link - lots of stuff to check out.

Yep! S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Complete Mod is usually all I run, though.

Yeah, I think I have it stashed somewhere already. Haven't used a WMP skin in a while, though!
